We’re Going To Drive Through That?

October 7, 2020

It was a fabulous autumn day and a beautiful scenic drive. The falls colors were on display, it was sunny and warm, and we were on Phantom Canyon Road. This twisty route is laid upon an old railroad line that connected three mining districts - our Cañon City along with Cripple Creek and Florence. In addition to the sharp turns, this road goes up. So we rose to an elevation of 7,500 ft., came across deer, were awed by beautiful canyons and drove through a couple of very narrow tunnels. This magnificent ride made us feel like locals, explorers, tourists all at the same time.
