Checking Out Some Chickens

May 29, 2020

The animal Show & Tell program has been a big hit with our residents. This edition featured the chickens of our cleaning lady, Penny. She brought one black chicken that had funny feathers on its head - called a Polish chicken. There were red and white chickens called Frizzles. The black rooster was a banty rooster. Typically they are smaller and more aggressive. But this one was perfect for our Show & Tell. The baby chickens were very comfortable around residents and were held with ease, like regular babies. Amazingly, chickens love their ears rubbed, it relaxes them and puts them to sleep. And there were lots of volunteers to hold them and try it out. Oh, and even our furry resident wanted in on the action and was a very curious kitty cat.
